Little Walk Cottage sits on the edge of the Thorganby Hall farmyard with delightful views through adjacent woodland to the estate’s private lake and the rolling farmyard beyond. For those looking for tranquil space to express their artistic side, the Garden Room at Little Walk Cottage provides a lovely view to draw, sketch or paint, whilst enjoying the warm, oak and glazed surrounding of the cottage. The cottage has its own driveway and plenty of garden space, including a terrace with a garden table, chairs and a brick barbecue. The garden is not fenced, there is ample parking and no passing traffic. Pets by arrangement for an additional small charge, with a maximum of two.

Property details

Little Walk Cottage sleeps 4 and is ideal for a family. (We can provide a cot and high chair on request). With high-quality furnishings and interior design throughout, you’ll have everything you need to enjoy your holiday.

The open-plan kitchen/dining/living room leads through to the Garden Room and adjacent terrace, with beautiful views across the woods and to the lake beyond. There are stone floors with rugs throughout, with carpeted bedrooms. The wood-burning stove (logs supplied) is perfect to cosy up in front of after a busy day, whilst the oil-fired central heating keeps Little Walk Cottage toasty throughout.

The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier. In the living area there’s a colour TV, video and DVD (due to new regulations please bring your own DVDs), radio/CD player, WiFi, local information and ample reading material.

It has one double bedroom with 6′ bed, one twin bedroom (double by arrangement). All bed linen and towels are provided. The family bathroom has a bath, basin, W.C. and heated towel rail. There is also a separate shower room with a basin and W.C.

Outside you’ll find a barbecue (charcoal) and garden furniture, so you can spend warm evenings relaxing on the terrace.

There is also generous parking beside the property and a lockable bike shed – there are some fantastic cycle routes in the area.

Getting there

Humberside Airport 15 miles/20 mins drive. Doncaster/Sheffield Airport 1 hour drive. Main line rail connections with Newark (45 miles/1 hour drive) via Market Rasen (12 miles/20 mins) and Doncaster (40 miles/1 hour 10 mins) via Barnetby (15 miles/25 mins). Motorways to North via M180 (15 miles/20 mins) to M18 North to M62/A1 or South to M1. A1 at Newark (45 miles/ 60 mins), South to London and M11/M25 etc.

From the North

  1. A1/M62/M18/M180
  2. Exit for Humberside Airport
  3. Through Melton Ross, past Airport
  4. Turn right at crossroads to Caistor
  5. Continue 4/5 miles, merge once with minor road, merge again with major road
  6. Arrive at A46, go straight over staggered crossroads (left, then right)
  7. onto B1225 signposted to Horncastle
  8. Go less than a mile, left at crossroads to Rothwell
  9. Into village, left past pub, then take right fork to Croxby
  10. Go 1-2 miles, staggered crossroads, go straight over (right then left)
  11. Down hill, up hill through Croxby, come into Thorganby
  12. Turn left, with farmyard straight ahead. Follow road towards Croxby Pond, in the second dip there is a cottage on the right hand side
  13.  Turn right down the concrete drive, in front of the cottage, and drive into farmyard pass corn silos
  14. Turn left as you come to field ahead.
  15. Turn left down pass a house on the left and follow gravel drive to the cottage

From the South

  1. A1
  2. A46
  3. Newark to Lincoln to Middle Rasen, turn right onto A631/A46
  4. Turn right into Market Rasen on A631
  5. Go through Market Rasen until Traffic Lights turn left onto B1203
  6. Follow road through Tealby and Binbrook
  7. 3 miles out of Binbrook pass a PH on right hand side “Click’em Inn”
  8. 300 yds past pub turn left at the crossroads (main rd continues right and Hatcliffe is straight ahead)
  9. Up the hill and down the hill into Thorganby
  10. Follow the road through the village past the brick house on the left and brick barn on the right, past the old Tel. kiosk
  11. Turn right at next junction, a farmyard is to the right
  12. Follow road towards Croxby Pond, in the second dip there is a cottage on the right hand side
  13. Turn right down the concrete drive, in front of the cottage, and drive into farmyard pass corn silos
  14. Turn left as you come to field ahead. Turn left down pass a house on the left and follow gravel drive to the cottage
