Cycling

Cycling

The Lincolnshire Wolds are renowned for the lack of traffic (beware of tractors though!) creating a great cycling environment, so Thorganby is perfectly situated for a cycling holiday. Some guests use our holiday properties as a base from which to explore a range of wonderful local cycling routes, whilst others book one as a pit stop during a rest and cycle point-to-point route.

If you are bringing your own bikes, we have secure cycle storage at both Marris Barn and Little Walk Cottage. Bike hire (including Electric Bikes) is available at Pedal Electric Cycles who are also planning to open a new outlet in Cleethorpes.

Cycle routes

There are a number of popular cycle routes nearby including Sustrans National Cycle Route, the Humber to the Wash Cycle Route and the Hull to Fakenham Route. The joining place for all of these routes is just one mile away from Thorganby at the Croxby Pond cross roads. That’s between Thoresway and Beelsby, where it bisects the Swallow/Thorganby road.

Another Sustrans Circuit we like is:

Walesby – Tealby – North Willingham – Sixhills – Hainton – South Willingham – Benniworth – Donnington on Bain – Stenigot – Bluestone Heath Road – Calcethorpe – Kelsetern – Thorganby.

Take a look at A Hint of the Wolds and Bradly Wolds Loop for more details.

The Lincolnshire coast is host to two very different seaside experiences: the Fun Coast stretches from Skegness to Mablethorpe and is home to some of the finest seaside resorts in the UK. However the rural coast is a haven for nature lovers, birdwatchers, conservationists and romantics. Gibralter Point, Saltfleetby, Wolla Bank, and Moggs Eye all reward those seeking the natural coastline.
